Kay Sohini is a (South Asian American) writer and artist based in New York.

She has a PhD in English from Stony Brook University, where she drew her doctoral dissertation as a comic. "Drawing Unbelonging" was generously supported by a grant from the Mellon Foundation and the American Council of Learned Society.

Her work has been published in The Washington Post, The Nib, Inside Higher Ed, amongst others.

 

Her first book,This Beautiful, Ridiculous City, (Penguin Random House, 2025) is now out in the world to glowing reviews from The Washington Post, NPR, Financial Times. and the Associated Press, among others.

She is currently working on a comic cookbook for Ten Speed Graphic / PRH, a graphic nonfiction on time for Abrams, and a novel.
